Phantom 911 calls from analog lines during rain

Post by jjwork »

Hi all,

I found this post and was wondering if the change that was made might adversely affect the system, like mess up PRI timing or something like that.

Probably you have a leak, have to verify your infrastructure, no magic solution

We did check the setup at that location, no water there. Maybe at the CO side? I just don't think the system should default to dialing 911 if there is a short somewhere. It causes our police alot of unnecessary work.
Disabling the R key appeared to fix the issue for jbower. Was just wondering if that messing with that timer would possibly throw the trunk out of wack.

911 if not wrong can be activated by messages on PSTN, not exactly dialing like we humans do.
So, if there is a short cut somewhere between you and 911 can be the problem.

Honestly some times these are so tiny that is no water but dust and humidity, so "looking" for water might not be the only problem.
Try to discard, if you have a ballon from your Telco put another one in parallel and begin to test backward until you reach their connection point. Then you ask them to do the same as you already have clean installations. Cost will worth you save troubles with police (bad wolf tale...)

Hi,

Following the instructions in the TC0896 document seems to have worked.
