OS6450-10 does not boot at all

Post by Rowdyx47 »

Hi Guys, hoping someone can help with this

I have an OS6450-10 that does not seem to boot at all.
The deive receives power and the only two leds that light up are "pwr" and "12"
When I console into the device I receive nothing but a blank screen, i.e no text whatsoever.
My console cable works as I can console into other devices.
I have double checked baud rate and all the rest of the serial settings and they are correct.

I am assuming that the software is corrupted somehow.
There must be a way to boot the device from a USB and then reinstall the OS?
I am unsure of what version of software / firmware it has installed but again, i am assuming its the default that it comes shipped with.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions I'm all ears. :? :? :? :?

Thanks in advance

If you tested your console cable in another Alcatel switch i'd RMA the device.
if there is just power and a port LED (unconnected?) on something is very wrong.

I'd bet a recovery by USB will not work, as you need uboot/miniboot (and that give some console output) for that.

Hello, I have the same situation, what is "RMA the device", please?

RMA means that the switch is defect (in hardware) and via your supplier you can exchange this switch with an other 6450-10.
