INTER VLAN ROUTING

Post by selectt »

HI looking for a little help.

im currently setting up a voice/data center and have a fixed link installed via a cisco router.

The network supplier has supplied one cable (trunk port) with

VLAN 2 (private network connecting 5 other sites on sub nets 10-14 back to my voice/data center(they do all the routing works fine)

VLAN 3 Public connection to the internet

i have connected this cable to port 1/1 of my 6850 and tagged the port with VLAN 2 and 3

i have then subsequently programmed vlan 3 (via VPN/firewall) associated ports of the switch 1/30, 1/31,1/32 and then patch them to cloud based OXO RCS - this works fine

On VLAN 2 - The network provider as previously mentioned , have networked 5 remote sites back to my voice/data centre

i have connected a OXO RCS cpu to an associated VLAN 2 port - again success remote users can communicate and all telephone handsets are working.

My issue

The private network VLAN2 Require access to VLAN 3 public to connect to the internet and on to a voice flex server to allow SIP trunks.

my question is how does on device on VLAN 2 also communicate to VLAN3 - i guess when the OXO RCS tries to route to the voiceflex servers PUBLIC IP address.

policy routing has been mentioned ?

thank you in advance.
