IPTouch 4028/8028 out of order

Post by melozurdo »

Hi guys,

i have a IPTouch 4028/8028 phone from my customer that is out of order. I reset the terminal from Omnivista (deleting and putting again the MAC address) and from command line in OXE but still remains in this bad status. I asked user to confirm MAC address and it´s correct and also connect another working phone in the same port and he told me that the "working phone" is not working at that port. Also I saw these messages in the log:

And you want to troubleshoot only using incidents in incvisu?
Check IP configuration on the phone (get on site support)...Is it a switch port config problem, is it firmware, is it phone IP config....is it a defective phone?....we cannot guess

User said he connected another IpTouch 4028 in the same port and it didn´t work either so the phone is not faulty but could be an issue with the port.
Is there anything I can check from OXE or Omnivista regarding that port or should I advise to user to contact local support for checking the port?

maybe the telephone vlan is not present on that port.
are there ports on the same switch with connected telephones? if yes somebody should compare the switch port configuration.

when you say, are there ports on the same switch with connected telephones? you mean are there phones connected to the same crystal and coupler? The answer is yes. The phone with problems are in crystal 1 coupler 1 port 79 of 224.

I could trace some other phines thru network and they are connected to different switches.
I have the mac address of the phone having issues but cannot find out where is connected to

sh mac address-table address 0080.9f79.afd1

Legend: * - primary entry
age - seconds since last seen
n/a - not available
S - secure entry
R - router's gateway mac address entry
D - Duplicate mac address entry

Displaying entries from DFC switch [1] linecard [1]:

vlan mac address type learn age ports
----+----+---------------+-------+-----+----------+-----------------------------

No entries present

Other phones are connected thru port channels. These ports are including the Voice PBX vlan.
I think I would need somebody to check where the phone is connected to and check the port/cable on the switch, right?
