Hi all,
I am working on a project where we are have some access rings using ALU Omni 6860 switches. ERP functionality working perfectly but I am facing a delay about 1000ms during protection to idle state transaction. How can I overcome this delay & reduce it to less than 50ms? can we use bfd here to overcome & reduce the delay?
Kindly advise.
ERP re-convergence time in 6860 Omni switches
Re: ERP re-convergence time in 6860 Omni switches
In my knowledge ERP has a time of 50ms. BFD is for routing protocolls. So you should open a ticket at alcatel to solve the problem.

Thanks Silvio,
Actually I read Omni 6860 document & there is a option we can enable bfd in ip static route configuration of switch. I have tried it today with only one switch in access ring & the maximum delay I observed was of 11.5 ms while ERP switching.
I will try it again in other access ring with few more switches.

yes, BFD is only for routing protocolls (like ospf, bgp, static routing or vrrp) but not for ERP. But maybe ERP was not the reason for the long delay of 1000ms?
