Cannot delete user (Error says MULTI-LINE set)

Post by frank »

I had a fun one yesterday: I could not delete a user, the error would says "multi-line set" or something like that.

:?: The problem was that the user was a set supervisor for a HUNT GROUP. Apparently, you cannot be a set supervisor for a hunt group (which sounds normal to me, what about you?), but the PBX let the customer did it. Anyway.

 More detail: User 3000, set supervision for 4000.
4000 is a hunt group with 3 sets inside.

 The solution was to :
- delete the hunt group 4000,
- create a user 4000,
- delete user 3000,
- delete user 4000,
- recreate hunt group 4000..

I don't know how they though about this (TAC) but they are definitly good, and I am learning a lot everyday :-)

this can also occur if you have set up a telephone i.e. an Alcatel 4035 and then want to change thew set for, say, a 4004. Although you change the "Set Type" to 4004 the system comes up with the error Cannot delete user (Error says MULTI-LINE set)

The only way around this is to delete the user and re-create as the right set (4004)

Unless some proves otherwise... this is fact.

The main problem - error in data base. Solution - run command "multitool REPAIR" (option - repairing supervision). You must stop mao before "mao off".
After repairing you can delete user.

as vad said, this tool is good, but can also be dangerous on large network. You can use 'multitool CHECK' first if you like
