Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
Im currently awaiting a new enterprise system to be installed next month on a site but in the intrim period i have to get the customers damaged 4400 working. The HD on the system had stopped working so i replaced it and installed release 5.0 ux sw version d23147.uk, no problem.
I then ftp'd into the system and placed the following files into usr4/BACKUP/OPS
hardware.mao
xxxxxxxxx.hw
xxxxxxxxx.sw
xxxxxxxxx.sw
xxxxxxxxx.zip
software.mao
I then went into swinst and tried to restore the OPS from the hardware drive and got the following message :
unable to access /DHS3dyn/BACKUP/OPS/ms00601a.sw
Have i placed the OPS files in the correct location for this release of software ?
Also im asuming the database will be placed into usr4/BACKUP/IMMED ?
Thanks in advance

Yes, your directory is correct. Sounds like your OPS file/s may be corrupted.

Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
Some how i have got the original system up and working but i suspect the HD is going to fail, so i have tried to replace it. I have FTP'd the original data base from usr4/IMMED as well as the OPS. Again i have tried to install them on a new HD with reloaded sw and the same error appears.
How can a system work with OPS installed and then a copied version not ?
Im confused
I have saved the OPS using the floppy , im going to try and restore from the floppy in swinst.
Why cant i view the OPS contents using windows , it just tells me the floppy needs formating ?
Is there a way of veiwing them or are the saved in a different format when saved from the system ?
I can view the contents from the 4400 floppy?

Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
Because one are on running mode and maybe the data files are the ones that are corrupted.
The FD is not FAT or FAT32 file system, so you need a unix to read that floppy or a tool to do that support on Windows.

What login you use for ftp? f.e. was case - (PBX 4400) one men use root account for ftp connection - in this case file was loaded with attribute - owner root and group other. If this is your case - change to owner mtcl and group tel.
Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
No way. For OPS files transfer FAT FD were used. They supposed to be prepared on WIndows PC so to transfer files from/to 4400 with FD you should use mtools (like mdir, mcopy etc)cavagnaro wrote:....

I think problem may be that floppy reader in 4400 is old or floppy itself is not good.
Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
When you restore database (saved from worked system) - not necessary restore OPS files (becouse OPS files included in database).
When you save OPS files on FDD - when you select "Save OPS to DOS floppy" - you can read this disk on PC without problem. But from my practice - if you want to use FDD - you need to clean FDD before use (if device was not used more then f.e. 6 month).

Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
Just to confirm, if i dont manually restore ops, but restore customer saved database the ops files will be installed ok?
And will the ops files be loaded into the OPS file in usr4/ops too ?
For your info i used filezilla to FTP the ops and cutomer database from the original working system.
I can view all the files OPS and data base, on my windows pc no problem .

Re: Reloading OPS - release 5.0 ux
When you restore database - you can check OPS file presence in two way.
1) Normal PBX start
2) /DHS3data/mao - you can see files *.zip, software.mao ...
During database restoration PBX do nothing with /usr4/BACKUP/OPS folder.
I use Windows Commander (for ftp) - without problem.
