Outbound Line Selection

Post by amigaman »

Hello, and sorry for my bad english,
I am from Germany, using a German Telekom OXO, named Octopus Open 830.

We have a configuration with 2 PtP-Lines (Company 1) and 2 PtMP-Line (Company 2).

Some Users have set their allowed Line to #0, which is Company 1, others to *50, which is Company 2. (Those Numbers are also set in Shortcut Directory). This is to select the outgoing Number and billing.

Now i want some users to let select which line to use. Therefore (i think) i must change "allowable Lines" in "User List" to "#0,*50", which is standing there for the DECT-Stations. But when i change this value, it will revert to the previous "#0", and user is not allowed to switch lines.

What am i missing?

Firstly, I hope that your nickname is in reference to the Amiga OS - I love Amiga!

There is a way to set the system up so that when a user presses 0, the system automatically chooses a trunk from their trunk group. (I'm not sure if in Germany 0 is the standard trunk access code, but this is the way it is in Australia.)

Method:

1. Configure 2 or more secondary trunk groups in the office system.

2. Add the trunks required for each group of users into a unique trunk group, for example 460 and 461.

3. Ensure that each trunk group is given a traffic sharing link category that is unique to that trunk group, for example set 460 to LC 13, and 462 to LC 14.

4. Divide the list of subscribers into the required groups by assigning a traffic sharing link category that is unique to each group, for example set group 1 to LC 11 and group 2 to LC 12.

5. In the traffic sharing matrix, set the check boxes to allow each group of users to have access to the required trunk group, i.e. put a + in the field that joins trunk LC 13 to user LC 11 and trunk LC 14 to user LC 12.

6. In the internal numbering plan, change the main trunk group prefix to be something other than 0 (eg 495).

7. Re-create 0 as an ARS prefix.

8. In the ARS numbering plan, create a trunk list entry for each of the trunk groups created in steps 1-3.

9. Create an ARS entry which is: Network=pub, prefix=blank, ranges=blank, Substitute=blank,TrGrpLst=1. Then use Right click, subline add and create a second line that is set to TrGrpList=2 and the same other settings as the last line.

10. The ARS facility will now allow all users to dial 0 for external calls but will only allow access to the specific trunk group that is allocated in the traffic sharing matrix.

11. if the specific trunk group is not available then the user will recieve trunk group busy indication.

If you can wait for 2 days until i'm back at work, i'll post some screenshots to make this a little simpler ;)

Cheers,
astro.

Thanks a lot.
Firstly: Yes, i am a (former) Amiga 'Specialist', so this became my Nick in RL, nowadays i am using it in most forums. :D

I have to try your explanations, i must translate your terms to the crappy German words. (Sometimes i see that the software is written in English by non-Native-English Speakers, and then translated to German by also non-Native Germans.)

Thanks so far, but your Screenies will help me a lot. BTW. i am using Expert-Version.

Edit: Think i got it. The Trick was like this:
- My Trunk groups were predefined as #0 and *50
- In Details/LinkCat #0 is set to 1, *50 to 2
- In Subscribers/Advanced/Barring the "Company 1"-People have LC set to 1, "Company 2"-People have 2
- I changed the appropriate Users to use 3
- In the Traffic Sharing Matrix, it looks like 1 +-, 2 -+, 3 ++

This seems to work. But:

- I dont understand Step 1 & 6: What is the main or secondary TG? The only Selection is Cyclic or Sequential.
- How do i create 0 as ARS Prefix? (0 to get a line works so far. I just dunno why...)
- How can i let the Phone display which line i am using, when dialing 0?

We're well aware of documentation being a little hard to understand... There have been occasions in Australia when documentation is still in French. I would recommend downloading the French documentation and converting it to German - it avoids the double translation.

In the internal numbering plan you can select Main or Secondary trunk group. Main trunk group is usually 0, and secondary trunk groups are 460 to 494. When you use this method, change the main trunk group to: Start=495, End=495, Base=0. Then create a new secondary trunk group with Start=0, End=0, Base=blank. When you set the base to blank, it tells the OXO to send the calls into the ARS.

There isn't a way to display the line that is being used. I would suggest that you give the users Special Physical Access keys that monitor their individual lines. This way they can see at a glance which lines are busy and so forth.

I miss my Amiga 3000, but I still use WinUAE to play all the great games. I once got something called Amithlon which was pretty cool... It was a thin linux kernel that emulated an amiga system and then booted AmigaOS3.5 - it was very fun!

Ok, I see...

I have a Main with "From #0", "To #0", "Base 0" (Company 1), and one Secondary with *50,*50,1 (Company 2), also there is a Secondary 0,0,ARS.
Any need to change this? :?

And with the displayed Names: When using the Company1-Line, Display shows "Number>A". For the Company2-Line it shows only "Number". This has to do with the above, i assume?

(And another 'Problem': Some users show lower case names on the Phone when dialed, but i cannot verify this in PM5. This is just cosmetical, but annoying. any Idea? :? )
